CHRISTOPHER ROBIN
PRE-PRIMARY
“A person’s most useful asset is not
a head full of knowledge, but a heart
full of love, an ear ready to listen and
a hand willing to help.”
- Anonymous-
Our heartfelt appreciation to the parents and learners of
Christopher Robin Pre-Primary who most definitely opened
their hearts and hands this year to all the worthwhile chari-
ties we have supported.
In February, the month of love, the children paid R10
to dress-up in pinks, reds and whites. The proceeds were
donated to the
Red Cross Children’s Hospital Trust
.
This money is used for the upgrading of buildings, purchas-
ing vital equipment and funding critical training and research
programmes.
For the many under privileged children of
Elundini
and
Melkbos Care Centre
this year’s Easter period was one
full of sweet treats and chocolate eggs.
The Snowman Project created an opportunity to clear out
our old clothes and donate them to the
Kraaifontein In-
formal Settlement
and
Elundini Educare Centre
. The
senior citizens of
Huis Zonnekus
, the retirement village in
Milnerton, were very grateful for the toiletries and sweets.
On “Reach For Your Slipper’s Day” on Friday 2 August,
learners and staff across the country were encouraged to
come dressed to school and work in their slippers and pay
R10 towards the
Reach for a Dream Foundation
. The
money raised nationally on Slipper Day is in aid of children
fighting a life-threatening illness.
An on-going project in the Pre-Primary is the collection of
BreadTags forWheelchairs
. This fantastic charity col-
lects the High Impact Polystyrene bread tags that is used to
seal fresh bread and sells it back to recyclers. The money is
then used to buy wheelchairs for the less fortunate.
Once again, the Pre-Primary learners and parents sup-
ported the
SPCA’s National Animal Awareness Month
in September. Many of our little ones dressed up as their
favourite animal on the last day of the quarter. They pur-
chased and wore the SPCA R5 ribbons. The selling of the
ribbons promotes kindness and compassion, raises aware-
ness, and of course much needed funds for all the animals in
the SPCA’s care.
We would like to thank you once again, for so generously
contributing towards all our outreach projects this year!
Thank you for your continued support and making a differ-
ence throughout our community!
JUNIOR PREPARATORY
2013 has been a particularly memorable year during which
many new initiatives were undertaken to support those
members of our community who are in need.
During the first quarter our outreach initiatives were
firstly aimed at assisting local feeding programmes. We
continue to support the
Lunch Buddies School Feeding
Programme
. Dried and tinned food items were handed
over to the Food Bank, and distributed to families in need.
Secondly, we collected stationery for the month of Febru-
ary, in support of the
Chaeli Campaign
. One of this
organisation’s outreach initiatives involves weekly clinics to
disadvantaged communities, where they work with children
who are battling to reach their developmental milestones.
The stationery collected was used to assemble kits for these
children to practise the skills taught.
