We have shared a year full of great
highlights in 2013. Many special events,
outings and activities kept our little ones
entertained and our parents delightfully
involved and proud.
Our annual picnic at the Green Point
Park was a great success. The parents and
children thoroughly enjoyed the sunshine
and the relaxing environment. They took
full advantage of the wonderful climbing
equipment, swings and slides on offer in the
Eco Park.
In the first quarter we welcomed the
Lilliput players and their delightful “Nursery
rhyme show.” The children enjoyed singing,
as well as dancing along to their favourite
nursery rhymes. We were fortunate enough
to host the delightful ensemble again to
celebrate Christopher Robin’s birthday.
They entertained us with the theme of
Action Rhymes, with songs such as “Head,
shoulders knees and toes” and “Rock-a-bye
your bear”. Thereafter the entire pre-
primary joined in to sing “Happy birthday”
and share delicious cake.
Our second quarter commenced excitedly
withWorld Book Day. In order to celebrate
the love of books and Shakespeare’s birthday,
our little ones dressed in a variety of
colourful and creative costumes. We used
this opportunity to inspire the children to
create their own little books, which were
illustrated with beautiful and carefully
designed front covers.
The Grade R’s were treated to an
exciting adventure in the Edudome mobile
planetarium. At first the learners were
amazed, stating that it was similar to being
at a party with a giant silver jumping castle.
They were soon delighted to learn that we
could enter the dome and be taken on a
journey to outer space. They loved learning
about the planets in the solar system and
singing special songs about planets.
To honour children around the world,
Christopher Robin Pre-Primary joined in
celebrating International Children’s Day
and shared this occasion with our teddy
bears, at the Teddy Bear’s picnic lunch. To
welcome winter, we invited all learners to
create a warm and cosy atmosphere in class
and dress for the occasion in their favourite
pyjamas and slippers. “All things bright and
beautiful” was the theme for our eagerly
anticipated, annual art exhibition. The
classes were filled with masterpieces, created
by our very own Picassos andVan Goghs.
Our outing to the Artscape was a
culturally enriching experience. Our little
ones were enthralled to be treated to the
“Kipper and the Magic Island” show. This
was a lovely introduction to the Oxford
Reading Tree scheme. Dad’s Day was
a special and exciting morning. It was
a day filled with enjoyable activities and
games with our loved ones. Much fun and
laughter was had as dads participated in
sack, wheelbarrow, and egg-and-spoon races.
Our eagerly anticipated production of
Cinderella was a highlight of the year for all
involved. Many hours of practice culminated
in a fantastic show, which left our audience in
awe of the spectacular musical, rhythmic and
acting talents of our little stars.
To end off the year and bid farewell
to all our little Einstein’s, we donned our
Graduation outfits, and with all of our loved
ones watching on proudly, were handed our
certificates at our Graduation Ceremony.
We wish each little learner all the very
best for their future education and the path
that lies ahead in the years to come.
