This year saw the Reporters’ Club move to
a central venue in IT01! It meant that our hard
working journalists had their own conference
table where they could brainstorm and share work
with each other, a green screen to record against,
computers and media facilities at their fingertips and
pin boards to display their work and ideas.
After a rigorous session in media etiquette and
presentation techniques, our budding presenters got
to work. They enthusiastically took on a multitude
of themed portfolios, representing their individual
interests. Media reviews, cooking demonstrations,
interesting facts,‘Top Tens’, environmental issues
and school events were all tackled by our diligent
reporters!

“I have always imagined that paradise will be
a kind of library."

The Parklands College library must certainly be
one of the most beautiful venues that any child could
wish for. However, the real magic happens when
bright, eager young minds discover new worlds and
intriguing characters, and some bravely embark on a
series.
Currently, there is a wealth of children’s literature
available and visitors to the library enjoy a wonderful
variety to choose from. We endeavour to introduce
our young readers to the latest and the best that
is on the market, while not neglecting the enduring
classics. It is rewarding to witness how children’s
tentative steps to new reading experiences lead to
increased confidence and growth.
In 2013, we explored the worlds created by J.R.R.
Tolkien and had a close encounter with the charac-
ters from 'StarWars'. We met a charming penguin
called Rocky onWorld Environment Day, celebrated
a vibrantWorld Book Day and participated in Inter-
national Nelson Mandela Day. We went dotty on
International Dot Day and celebrated Roald Dahl’s
birthday. We met real live authors and the amazing
DogtectiveWilliam. EveryWednesday morning, a
dedicated group of Grade 3 Book Club members
gathered to have fun with books and Grade 6 Liter-
ary Quiz teams demonstrated their skills at inter-
schools events. These are just some of the highlights
that provided texture to our library patchwork this
year.

the interior, border and coast of France such as
the ChateauxVersailles or Mont Saint Michel. We

World in 80 Days”. Furthermore, France is known
for having a wide variety of delicacies, desserts and
delicious cheeses. We catch a glimpse and a taste of
the gastronomical excellence of French cuisine. The
