Swimming
Children are naturally drawn to water and it is therefore
important to teach children to swim as early as possible.
Lessons are fun-filled, with silly-sinkers to teach duck diving,
hoops for diving, as well as boards and noodles for skill
specific instruction. Basic skills like floating, kicking and later
on stroke formation are encouraged.
Physical Education
Young children love to move and in the early years learn
most effectively through movement. During Physical Education
lessons children are taught to run, jump, hop, skip, bounce,
balance, catch, throw and hit.The focus is on developing the
fundamental skills of balance, coordination, and building strength
and agility.
Ballet
Young children love to move and in the early years most of
their learning is through movement. In the Pre-Primary we offer
ballet and follow the Royal Academy’s “Dance to your own tune”
syllabus. This develops confidence, control and co-ordination.We
aim to build a strong foundation that will prepare our dancers for
a successful transition to ballet and other dance genres at higher
levels. The Grade R learners have the opportunity to compete in
an international Royal Academy of Dance Award.
Speech and Drama
During Speech and Drama lessons we explore the world of
creative role-play, enacting various characters. The children
develop confidence and learn to express themselves effectively. We
often incorporate the use of puppetry whilst dramatising stories.
Languages
Our little ones are given the wonderful opportunity to learn
French and Mandarin in a fun-filled environment! The basic
language skills are taught through songs, rhymes and picture
riddles.
Sports
Our Grade R learners have the opportunity to play rugby,
intro-golf, soccer and tennis. Each of these sporting codes
aim to develop a solid foundation and the basic skills of the
sport.
Cooking
Our budding chefs eagerly attend their weekly cooking
lessons where they practise mixing, measuring and
kneading, whilst creating delicious and mouthwatering
food. Different textures, smells and tastes are explored and
enjoyed.
Music
Recorder, violin, piano and Minor Repertoire music lessons
are offered for our aspiring musicians. The Grade R learners
all enthusiastically participate in their weekly recorder lessons.
During Minor Repertoire lessons, our little ones experience the
delight of telling stories through music, whilst learning rhythm,
tempo as well as the various dynamics of music.
