The first team
underwent a major change in
personnel. There were many
Matrics in last year’s team and therefore there
were important gaps to fill this year. We also moved up a league, which also put
strain on the selection process. We finally selected the best eleven boys who
could take us to the next level. Senior players, who had a lot of experience
playing in this division, played a pivotal role in helping the newcomers to the
team, as well as shielding them from unnecessary pressure. They also took it
upon themselves to carry the team to many victories and although we had some
defeats, they were close calls. Sadly, we have to say goodbye to Matrics once
again. Thank you for all your commitment and dedication
to our school, Michael Paul Roth, Calvin King, Nicolas
Bowley, Bevan Norris and Dante Baggattini. All in all, the
first team had a very successful season and there is a lot
to look forward to in the coming year. With our young
talented boys coming through, it bodes well for the
future of cricket at the College.

The second team at Parklands College is
comprised of many seasoned cricketers who have played
together for many years. This year, they represented
the second U19 cricket side for the first time in the College’s
history. They played many tough games, which were well
fought by all the boys. They gained great success by the end of
the season. With the highest standard of sportsmanship and
will to win, their games never brought a dull moment. We
look forward to the season ahead. Well done, boys!

This year, the U15 cricket
boys showed that they were able to step up to the senior
level and play some good cricket. Some star performers
includedVinny Mangiagalli, BenWard and Michael Nesbitt,
to name a few.We must make special mention of Michael
Nesbitt, who scored 197 runs against Tygerberg Cricket
Club, with an outstanding display of aggressive batting. Spin
bowler BenWard gets a mention as he qualified for the
Jersey U15 national team, who beat the Netherlands in an
ICC European U15 Division One Championship this year.
This is a team that can reach for the stars and is clearly
capable of higher honours. We all look forward to seeing
them play in our First XI one day.

The U14 cricket team has established itself
as a force to be reckoned with. The team definitely has
fighting spirit.Various new team mates have arrived and
entrenched themselves as part of the face of the team.
Khanya’s leadership was inspirational, as always, and
he always led from the front. He was recognised at
provincial level and we salute him for his contribution
to the team. Laura, our princess of cricket, made us
proud with her national achievement, yet again. She
is truly an accomplished and cherished member of
the team.
Leadership, skill and fighting spirit are instilled by a
knowledgable and passionate coach. With the spirit
that currently reigns in this team, there will surely be
many triumphs in their future.
U/13
This year’s cricket season has been phenomenal! We
remained unbeaten the entire season. This is thanks to our
cricketers’ incredible dedication to the game and our parents’
unwavering support. Four of our boys were invited to play District
Provincial Nets – namely Jarred McGinty, Dean Greeff, Nicholas
Hanel and Daniel Robinson. This shows the incredible calibre
of players on our team. The team plays well – displaying both
excellent batting and bowling skills. Nicholas Hanel, the team’s
captain, must be congratulated on his superb leadership skills. He
is most definitely a gentleman on the field. There are undoubtedly
some star sportsmen on this team.
