Predators First XV
The U19 first team went on a team building camp
(Alan Zondagh RPC) in early April, just before the season started. This would
stand them in good stead in getting to know each other better. It was a
shaky start to the season, but once things settled, we saw the boys play some
great rugby. The game against Reddam Constantia comes to mind. The boys,
led by Calvin King, honoured Connor Gerber with a minute’s silence before
kick off. In a fitting display of “total rugby”, they brushed their more fancied
opponents away with a 26-6 win to honour Connor. The team then donated
a signed jersey that was given to Connor’s parents in memory of him and his
fantastic attitude of never giving up: a motto that all Predators will forever
live by.
U/16
With out a doubt, this is a team with many talented players yet to
reach their potential. This year has probably been the most frustrating season
for the boys, as they were better than their opponents on many occasions.
They just couldn’t turn pressure into points. They will learn from these
lessons and be one of the greatest teams the College will see.The highlight
for them this year was beating a very strong Bosmansdam team, which is a
school that has been playing rugby for many years.
U/15
This is a raw talented bunch of boys.Their
potential was quickly realized with the winning of
their opening match against Gordans High. From
there they strived and worked hard, even training
during public holidays to achieve their goals. With
team leaders like Darren Solomans, Joe Clews,
Robert Kucera and DevonWebb, just to name a
few, these boys will unlock their true potential in
years to come.A highlight of their first quarter
matches was star scrumhalf Gianluca D’Ambrosio
who kicked the winning points on the last kick of
the game, making it a19-17 win.
U/14
I had the privilege of captaining the
Parklands u14 rugby team.Throughout the course
of the year, the spirit amongst the players was at
a high.We have grown as a team and we feel that
we will always be united through our Parklands
rugby careers.
Our friends and fellow teammates from Blouberg High School joined
us at the beginning of the year and gelled well with us to make us a
formidable team. I would like to thank all the parents and supporters who
have assisted with lifts, supported us at all our games, even in howling
wind and in the driving rain. I would also like to thank Coach Chad,
Mr Pheiffer, Mr Viljoen and Mr Lötter, for coaching, managing and
setting up everything for us throughout the year. From a team
point of view, we have gained invaluable experience that we will
carry with us forever.
- Daniel Crowley (captain)
It has been a long season for the U14s.These boys have grown
from strength to strength and continue to do so. Playing a good brand
of rugby and winning many spectators over along the way. Led by
their charismatic captain, Daniel Crowley, this is the next Predators
generation. The U14s ended on a high note, beating Plumstead 34-12
on the last league game of the season. We look forward to keeping
this momentum into next season and producing many more wins to
ensure the Predators pack remains strong.
U/13
It has been a crazy rugby season for the U/13 Rugby Boys!
Our players have come a long way since the beginning of the season.
Some have never played rugby before but took to the sport quite
well. Once we got the basics out of the way, we could concentrate
on strengthening our forwards and backlines. Our forwards especially
enjoyed scrumming, rucking and lineouts. We still have a long way to
go, but our boys showed incredible determination.Their love for the
game carried them through, and they always held their heads high, no
matter if we won or lost. I am extremely proud of our team as we
played very good ‘rugby schools’ and we
had to contend with playing with the U/12s.
The Under 13s are extremely excited to
continue rugby next year and one day our
team will look back and see that they were
part of the legacy that is Parklands Rugby.
GO PREDATORS!

CRICKET
First team Cricket
The first cricket team really showed their mettle this past season.
Senior members came to the fore to lead the new players in the
squad, which was pivotal to our success - especially after losing
key players at the end of last year. Although our season was not
completely flawless, we learned from our errors and regrouped
our tactics. We took part in the 2B league, which provided a stern
challenge and good test every time we stepped onto the field. We
came up against very competitive, well established teams, but
everyone pulled their weight and showed their mettle in every game.
