PRE-PRIMARY

FACULTY

GRADES 0000 - R

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

From the Principal’s Office

Chantel Lamb

On behalf of the staff at Christopher Robin Pre-Primary, we are

delighted to welcome all the new children to Christopher Robin

Pre-Primary. The children are settling into their new classes and are

eagerly learning their class rules and routines. We enjoy greeting our

parents in the morning and hope that you feel welcome and happy if you

have just joined the Christopher Robin Pre-Primary Family. I look forward

to continuing to work together with our “old” families and acquaint myself

with those who have recently joined us.

We have had a busy and energetic few weeks and the little ones

have been very brave and absolute super stars! I would like to thank the

parents for their support in following our guidelines in order to settle each

little one as quickly as possible.

Our staff have indeed been amazing and I would like to acknowledge

their effort and hard work in ensuring that each parent as well as little one,

is happy and feels secure in their new environment! We constantly seek

to provide an environment, which is irresistible to children, through its

elements of adventure and play.

The CRPP team are passionate about the power of play and

exploration as we are well aware of the critical role it plays in a child’s

development. We know that our children are born with an innate desire

to create, move and discover and so all activities are designed with this

in mind. Decades of research clearly demonstrate that play is more than

just fun and games. Play boosts healthy development across a broad

spectrum of critical areas: intellectual, social, emotional and physical.

Our childrens’ futures are shaped by these types of enriching learning

experiences in the early years.

“Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how

to learn.” – O. Fred Donaldson

Please diarise the Summer Quarter Important dates listed below. To

celebrate Christopher Robin Pre-Primary’s 36th birthday, we invite you

to join us at Green Point Park from 9:00-11:00 on Saturday 12 March

2016. Bring a picnic basket and don’t miss out on this relaxed and fun

opportunity to meet other Christopher Robin Pre-Primary Families.

Grade R

Owl, Pooh Bear, Edward Bear and

Rabbit’s House

Anke Van Zyl, Justine de Wet, Samantha Eagle

and Tali Maltz

The new school year began with great

excitement as many brave little ones entered their

new classes. The new learners in Owl’s House,

Edward Bear’s House, Pooh Bear’s House and

Rabbit’s House have settled beautifully and seem

eager to participate in all activities.

This year marks the introduction of Robotics

to the Grade R curriculum and school day.

Each class has their own Robotics lesson, in

which the learners are familiarized with the

different components in the Robotics set, from

the Building Bricks, to axles. The learners

participated in their first lesson with great

eagerness and determination. They learnt to

create towers and challenged each other to

build the tallest towers. They have also been

designing and creating things that move. As

the year progresses, their skills in designing

and programming in Robotics will continue to

amaze.

The Grade R learners are learning some words and songs in their

Xhosa lessons. They are learning vocabulary relating to body parts and

have enjoyed learning the “Jikeleza” song with their Xhosa teacher,

Utitshalakazi.

Each Grade R learner received a recorder in their stationery pack

and these have already been used with great enthusiasm. The learners

have begun to learn where to position their fingers along the recorder

and create sounds with their instruments. Many learners are already

showing great musical promise.

Friday 29th January was dress up day to raise money for the

firefighters who serve our communities so dutifully. The learners

looked so courageous, dressed in red, yellow and many kindly made

a donation to the Volunteer Wildfire Service. Thank you to all who

contributed to this worthwhile cause.

It’s good to be back after the summer holiday

and it has been exciting to see the new faces

of Grade 00. A happy welcome back to our little

ones and to the new children that have joined our

pre-primary family. The children have had lots of

fun exploring their new classrooms and the ‘big’

jungle gyms. We started the year learning about

the school rules and the little ones have been

trying their best to be kind and loving and to look

after their belongings. The children have enjoyed

learning about colours and recognizing the

various colours that are in our environment.

Our summer days have been filled with

beautiful weather and this has given us the

opportunity to play outdoors. We have had fun

playing on the jungle gyms, as well as with

the equipment such as the hula-hoops,

soccer balls and skipping ropes. Inside the

classroom we have enjoyed making our

self-portraits and displaying them for all to

admire. The classroom has been filled with

excited chatter as the little ones play with the

construction toys, play dough, water play, in

the home corner and much more.

It has been delightful getting to know your

little ones and seeing the children make new

friends, as well as rekindling their relationships

from last year. It is going to be a fun-filled year

and we are so happy to be a part of your little

one’s new adventure.

It has been a great start to the New Year with our little ones settling

into their classes so well.

The first few weeks have been filled with a lot of fun games and

the little ones have loved exploring their new environment! They have

especially enjoyed being able to play in the big Pirate garden. We have

had so much fun learning about our school and the school rules.
