for him, as it was his first official race and he ran
against older competitors.

Congratulations to Emma Wood, (Grade 7), for
being selected to dance for the Cape Junior Bal-

The Cape Junior Ballet Company has been for-

cialized training and performance opportunities
in a professional environment. The company
aspires to be one of South Africa’s most versa-
tile and exciting youth dance companies and is
committed to increasing an audience for dance.
The dancers come from dance schools in and
around the Western Cape and have been se-
lected by a prestigious audition panel. They re-
hearse together every Saturday afternoon and
learn a variety of dance styles including classical
and neo-classical ballet, modern dance, contem-
porary dance and African Dance. The company
not only provides young dancers with specialised
training and performing opportunities in a profes-
sional atmosphere, but also facilitates their tran-
sition from classroom to stage.
They perform annually around South Africa and
internationally instilling in audiences the advan-
tage of dance within a community. These danc-
ers learn to develop their own talents and they
are encouraged to use their talent to help those
less fortunate.

CRICKET OLD BOYS MATCH
This past weekend the College hosted its annu-
al Old Boys Cricket match. The College 1st XI
played on the WG Grace Oval main field, against
the Old Boys A team. On the B field a combina-
tion of Parklands Staff, 2nd team and U19 fathers
took on the Old Boys B team in a 30-over format
game.
A great day was had by all and although the re-
sults are not important at the end of the day, we
have to mention that both College teams beat the
Old Boys in their respective matches. Better luck
next time.
