games, hut-building, swimming, and a delicious

lunch. After a bit of free time in the afternoon, the

evening programme included some fun activities

that included a new Grade 7 war-cry practice

and games in the hall. Mr Peters, dressed in his

fancy Hawaiian suit, amazed everyone with his

demonstration of how he could actually read Mr

Nock’s mind! After an exciting ‘night hike’ and

hot chocolate, everyone went to bed.

On Friday morning the Lead4Life camp leaders

played an exciting game that involved lots of run-

ning and stopping, but the lesson was that every-

one had to work together to achieve the goal of

‘catching the chicken’. By mid-morning, we were

all packed up and ready for the buses to take

us back home. What a great camp, it was an

awesome opportunity to make new friends, get

to know the new teachers and build some spirit

for the year ahead!

The ISTD Modern and

Tap Exams were held

on 17-18 November

2016 as well as the

Medal Tests on 21 No-

vember 2016. The ex-

aminers were Ms. Kim

Scott all the way from

New Zealand and Ms.

Belinda Mesecke a

local Capetonian. Across the three faculties we

were awarded: 3 Bronze, 10 Silver, 13 Gold for

the Medal Tests and 10 Merits between 70%-

79% and 50 Distinctions 80%-100% for the ISTD

Modern and Tap examinations. Reports and cer-

tificates will be handed out at an Assembly how-

ever please be patient, as the certificates have

not yet arrived from the UK.

SPORT ACHIEVEMENTS

Congratulations to Sky Johnson, Grade 12, who

was chosen once again for the South African

U/20 Ice Hockey team. Sky is currently repre-

senting South Africa in the 2017 World U/20 Ice

Hockey Championships in New Zealand until 25

January 2017.

team. Ryan took part

in the Western Prov-

ince knock-out trials and

beat the 5th seed at the

tournament. Ryan has

progressed to the next

round.

Congratulations to Alexia Pla, Grade 7 ,who took

part in the Western Province Championships

gala in December 2016. She made 4 Finals, fin-

ishing in the following order: 50m Breaststroke:

5th place, 100m Breaststroke: 5th place, 200m

Breaststroke: 5th place, 200m Individual Medley:

6th place, Alexia will be competing in the Level 3

Gala in Port Elizabeth from 23-26 March 2017.

Storm Elliott, Grade 9, com-

peted in her first Western

Province Biathlon league

meeting held on Saturday, 14

January. She was placed 8th

in the U/15 girls division and

has begun training for the

Western Province Champion-

ships to take place in March

2017.
