Shakespeare would have difficulty writing a
report that could bring justice to the Grade
11s of 2013.We are undeniably some of the
most talented, enthusiastic and good-looking
learners that Parklands has ever seen!
Whether it’s Jonathan Alp beating the
calculator or Nicol Steyn teaching Meryl
Streep a thing or two, this grade is jam packed
with talented individuals who are going to take
the world by storm. Chelsea van derWatt
came out of nowhere and won this year’s
first Park Idols. Sasha Zauchenberger and Mia
Denton represented South Africa at the Global
Young Leaders’ Conference in America and
Europe, whilst Chelsea Steward and Rhys Milne
were busy making history on the tennis courts
of Europe and Africa.
The Oudtshoorn Camp knocked our socks
off (well, we had to take them off, otherwise
they would’ve been ruined beyond repair). We
were pushed out of our comfort zones, by
doing various adrenalin packed activities; from
kayaking to walking across sky-high beams,
from crawling through an underground cave
to serene nature hikes and from stargazing to
abseiling.Through all of this, we learnt more
about ourselves and our grade as a whole.
We are neither acquaintances, nor peers.
We are lifelong friends. Despite our differences,
we always manage to support and motivate
one another. This was needed on numerous
occasions, as Grade 11 is an extremely
stressful year, but we managed to overcome
every obstacle with a smile, as well as a dance
move or two!We are super-excited to tackle
our Matric year and to set the bar at such high
levels, that it will be a long time before it is
matched. Bring on 2014!
