Quarter 4 Newsletter 2022
9 proudly showed off their South African flags they created at our art tables. The Butterflies’ assistant, Brenda even taught the Butterflies some traditional songs, thank you, Brenda. They tasted food from all around the world on World Food Day and showed off their South African outfits with pride. We ended off the Quarter celebrating World Disney day along with singing and dancing to disney music. We wish all our little ones and their families a happy festive season! GRADE 000 Lauren Medcalf and Colette Jagles What a wonderful Spring quarter we have had, filled with much excitement and learning! The Tiggers and Honey Bees have loved some wonderfully warm days that have brought such enjoyable adventures. These included having long runs and exciting playtimes on the big field, whilst also navigating the bigger jungle gyms with much enthusiasm. These have allowed our boys and girls to develop and show off their ever increasing gross motor skills of balancing, climbing and sliding. Our brave children outdid themselves in their class performances at the ‘In the Jungle’ Concert! The Tiggers transformed into lions and were a roaring success, whilst the Honey Bees traded their stripes to become zebras! The children sang beautifully, making their teachers (and parents) most proud. Our Space theme this quarter was a much-loved theme. The Tiggers and Honey Bees were treated to The Solar Sam Show where they relished the opportunity to explore new knowledge of the planets in our solar system. They enjoyed having a “trip around the sun” whilst being actively involved in singing and movement during the show. A day of delicious food tasting from countries around the world was thoroughly enjoyed by the children. “Mmmm, this is yummy!” could be heard from many of the children and highlighted the great experience had by all. This quarter was also filled with days where the children had a chance to come to school dressed up. We were treated to seeing lions, zebras and cheetahs (to name a few) on ‘Wear it Wild Day’ whilst beautiful South African colours were seen on Casual Day. Mickey, Minnie and Elsa were spotted playing and jumping in the Hundred Acre garden on World Disney Day. Such fun! We ended the year off with one last BOP when the Bop Bopper’s came to school for a brightly coloured show of song and dance taking our imaginations on a journey. We have had a wonderful quarter together and we would like to wish all the Tiggers’ and Honey Bees’ House families a restful holiday season. It has been wonderful for us to observe your children grow this year and we wish them the absolute best for Grade 00 next year. PRE-PRIMARY FACULTY GRADES 0000 - R . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . From the Principal’s Office Riette Pieterse As the year draws to a close, we stand in awe of our little people and their remarkable achievements, growth and development. It is hard to believe that only a few months ago many children started their school journey for the first time, while others were looking forward to the last year of their preschool years. At the end of November, we bid a fond farewell to our Grade R graduates and wish them well for the start of their formal education in Grade 1 next year. We look forward to seeing them on Wednesday, 18 November 2023 at 08:00 in their smart new school uniforms. I want to pay tribute to the teachers who have enthusiastically nurtured and guided your little ones throughout the year. As we prepare our little people for life, it is vital to instil the value of caring for our community and giving to those with much less than ourselves. As young as our learners are, they understand their role in giving to others. We are most grateful to our families for their warmth and generosity and their eagerness to support our various outreachs this year. These included helping many less fortunate children, and the elderly as well as supporting animal wildlife. The assistance received means a great deal to organisations that rely heavily on donations in order to perform much-needed community service. In addition to this, it is teaching our little ones a vital lesson in generosity, appreciation and the value of giving “Reaching Outwards, Growing Minds, Building Futures.” Congratulations to all our little ones on their hard work and progress over the past year. I wish all our parents and learners a blessed Festive Season and a wonderful holiday. We look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Wednesday, 18 January 2023. CRACKERJACKS Erin Liggett, Ingrid Lubbe and Jade Schroeder The Crackerjacks have loved the warmer weather and have enjoyed exploring our beautiful garden in all its happy springtime wonder. The Butterflies have delighted in playing in the 100 Acre Wood Garden in preparation for Grade 000 next year. During our Spring and My Garden themes, our little ones have been investigating and finding little creatures and birds in the garden to show their teachers. Waterplay has been a great hit this quarter. They thoroughly enjoyed dipping large paint brushes into water bowls and painting on the paving. The Caterpillars, Butterflies and Ladybirds enjoyed the Reptile Show and bravely touched a few of these amazing creatures. We also had a super ‘Wild Day’ with our children dressing up as their favourite wild animal. The learners have been dancing to the beat of South African music, and even learnt our National Anthem.
