Quarter 4 Newsletter 2021

7 PRE-PRIMARY FACULTY GRADES 0000 - R . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . From the Principal’s Office Riette Pieterse The children love attending shows that enrich their learning experience and to end off the year, all of the Christopher Robin learners were treated to the exciting and adorable dog show. Lloyd Bristow brought his amazing dog show to the school and they were very impressive, with their skills and tricks and the children delighted in watching them perform. Our virtual pre-recorded concert was very special and our little ones all did very well! We are extremely proud of them. Special thanks to Bronwen Milford and the teachers, who put a great deal of effort into the preparation and recording. It is hard to believe that we are saying farewell to another group of Grade R learners. I look forward to seeing them on the 13 January in the Preparatory Faculty, in their smart new uniforms, ready to start Grade 1. There is no doubt that through the vision and direction of Lorraine Roth, our Pre-Primary is indeed unique and homely. I would like to pay tribute to the teachers who have enthusiastically nurtured and guided your little ones throughout the year. They are not only passionate about their teaching but have a genuine concern for each little one in their care. I am extremely grateful to them for their excellent skills as teachers, but most of all, for always having the best interest of each individual child in the forefront of their minds. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, as parents, for supporting our Pre-Primary and our outreach projects over the year. We believe it is important to teach our young learners the value of giving and caring for others in our community. Your sincere interest in all our activities is very much appreciated. On behalf of the Pre- Primary team, thank you! We hope that you will enjoy a relaxing holiday. We look forward to welcoming your little ones back to school on Thursday, 13 January 2022. CRACKERJACKS Chanay de Klerk and Ingrid Lubbe The Crackerjacks have welcomed the warmer weather with open arms and have really enjoyed exploring the garden in all its happy springtime wonder. It has been so sweet to watch the little ones explore the garden and carefully observe the little crawling creatures. The Caterpillars and Butterflies enjoyed the “My garden” theme and delighted in listening to ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ story. The Butterflies took pleasure in acting out ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ story, how sweet! The Caterpillars favoured our “Books and Fantasy” theme this quarter, where they delighted in reading in our garden. The Caterpillars have loved having water play in the garden this quarter. They thoroughly enjoyed dipping large paint brushes into water bowls and ‘painting’ on the paving. This quarter the Caterpillars and Butterflies attended the ‘Hooked on Books’ show. The children enjoyed the fun and interactive show where the amphitheater was filled with giggles and smiles. Throughout the quarter both Caterpillars and Butterflies thrived on our Tuesday movement days. The children delighted in various gross motor activities on offer. The Butterflies created a beautiful art piece for the Proudly South African theme. They printed their feet and hands on a large paper, to form the South African flag. Both Caterpillars and Butterflies delighted in waving the South African flag and listening to the South African anthem. Thank you to all our parents and children for making 2021 a very memorable one. Wishing you all a very happy holiday! GRADE 000 Lauren Medcalf The Spring Quarter of 2021 has been filled with excitement. The Tiggers have enjoyed some wonderfully warm days, and this has bought some very enjoyable adventures. Having long runs and exciting playtimes on the big field and navigating the jungle gyms with much enthusiasm. The boys and girls have shown off their every increasing gross motor skill of balancing, climbing, and sliding on an array of wonderful jungle gyms. On Teddy Bears picnic day, we thoroughly enjoyed sharing it with our favourite teddy bears bought from home. Showing our bears our classroom and garden with delight and sitting outside, enjoying a picnic with the Tigger’s guests was too sweet! Our space theme this quarter was a much-loved theme – the Tigger’s were treated to The Solar Sam Show. Here the boys and girls were able to show off their knowledge of the planets of the solar system and enjoyed having a trip around the sun whilst being actively involved during the show. The Tiggers celebrated the end of year with a class party that had the children so excited. The garden was set up with a slip and slide and this was so much fun. Hearing the boys and girls laughing and enjoying their time was priceless. We have had a wonderful quarter together and I would like to wish all the Tigger’s House families a restful holiday season. It has been wonderful to observe your children grow this year and I wish them the absolute best for Grade 00 next year.
