Quarter 4 Newsletter 2021

As we reach the end of 2021, we do so with a heightened sense of appreciation for having made it through another year of change and adaptation. We are grateful for the support and understanding we have received from our parents over the past year. We have adapted to and managed the disruption that the Covid virus has caused to sport and many other traditions and events that recognise the achievements of our talented young learners. Most importantly, academics continued and our learners were fortunate to be able to attend classes each day without any disruption to the programme. Sadly, the pandemic continues and 2022 could see new protocols and procedures applied to schools. We congratulate our new executive and we wish them a successful year in office. As the Grade Twelve student body leave us, we would like to remind them that there is no strength without challenge or adversity. Striving for a goal constantly presents many challenges, but that is where one’s strength will come from together with one’s ability to stand up, face the challenges and walk through them. Whichever path they traverse, we hope that they will remember the lessons that they learnt from their time at Parklands College. My final words of advice to them are, ‘Be yourself, have the courage to follow the course that you believe to be right, make the most of your abilities, take your part where you have a contribution to make and give back to society as much as you take from it - in other words, continue on your journey of excellence and hold aloft your ideals and vision, and you shall justly reap the rewards of your labours.’ We look forward to receiving the Matric results when they are released on 21 January 2022. I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to our educator body of 2021. They have held the vision fast in times of challenge and have celebrated in the glory of our many achievements. Their dedication can never be underestimated. With the continued support of such a committed team and the continuous backing of our parents and Board we will continue to grow from strength to strength. While the new year will bring its share of challenges, we remain positive in the knowledge that with your continued support we will find a new path together. We look forward to welcoming you all back in the new year in which we will embrace our theme, ‘Kindness’. Hopefully it will be a year filled with positivity and renewed energy and strength in preparation for whatever awaits us. May the Holiday Season bring you its treasures in abundance: lasting friendships, family joys, health and prosperity.
