Quarter 2 Newsletter 2024

11 GRADE R Tali Maltz, Chanay De Klerk, Carmen Wessels The Petting Zoo is such a wonderful opportunity to expose our learners to animal life and enable them to interact with cute and cuddly creatures. The children benefit tremendously from the tactile and sensory experience of touching, petting and grooming various animals, from goats to bunnies and birds to sheep. This also allows them to develop emotional resilience by overcoming their fear of animals and empathy in learning to look after creatures with sensitivity and care. World Book Day was filled with storytelling, vocabulary development and excitement. We were thrilled to welcome various dress-up characters, from Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz to superheroes. Our learners loved welcoming the Grade 6 drama learners, who narrated some of their favourite stories with such flair. We thoroughly enjoyed our two days of culinary delight, including our much anticipated "Build your own burger" day and “Hot chocolate and s'mores” day. For the first event, each learner had the opportunity to select their own ingredients to create their own hamburgers and for the second event, they were so excited to bring their teddy bears to share in the cosiness of the warm drinks and sweet treats. Our concert production of “The Enchanted Ozland” was a great success. Our children practised their songs with great enthusiasm and optimism and shone as brightly as Dorothy’s sparkling ruby slippers on stage, enthralling our audience with wonderful songs such as “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and “The Wizard of Oz.” It was wonderful to see the audience beam with delight and pride and even join in singing some of the well-known classics. Thank you for your support and loud applause. Wishing everyone a warm, cosy and safe holiday.
