Quarter 2 Newsletter 2024

10 favourites like “5 Little Ducks,” “Walking in the Jungle,” and “Let’s Go to the Zoo.” Our gardens provided firsthand experiences of the beautiful changes in nature during Autumn. Little wheelbarrows were pushed around to collect the vibrantly coloured autumn leaves. It was a joy to watch the little ones jump into the leaves and toss them into the air. It was warm and cosy to come to school in our fluffy slippers and pyjamas on Slipper Day. The children loved building their own burgers and munching away happily. The Crackerjack children were thrilled to bring their teddies to school, showing their favourite stuffed friends to their classmates. They also enjoyed sipping warm hot chocolate while enjoying their yummy S'mores. We can’t believe that the second quarter is already behind us. We wish you a happy holiday break. Stay warm and safe, and we look forward to seeing you in July. GRADE 000 Ingrid Lubbe and Abigail de Witt The Tiggers and Piglets had a wonderful Autumn quarter! The quarter has been filled with learning how to care for our pets, what animals we find on a farm, the animals of the wild, what wonderful creatures we find under the sea and of course a firm favourite, dinosaurs! We started the quarter with a visit from the Petting Zoo. The children were super excited to pet and brush some of the animals with lots of giggles being heard and smiling faces seen. The bunnies and Guinea pigs were a firm favourite of the Tiggers and the Piglets. For World Book Day we had a day of dress up, showing off some of our favourite book characters! We had a visit from fairies, princesses, Bob the Builder, Spiderman, Peter Pan, Woody and lots of animals! The Tiggers and Piglets had such fun telling us about their favourite characters! One of the most loved days this quarter was Slipper Day! The little ones loved coming to school in their pyjamas and enjoyed a cosy day in class, watching a movie. This quarter, the Tiggers and Piglets also got to make their mommies and daddies feel extra loved by creating their very own Mother’s Day and Father’s Day gifts. On 31 May we celebrated International Children’s Day with a Teddy Bears Hot Chocolate and S’mores Day. The little ones (and teachers) all enjoyed their yummy treats out in the garden in the lovely late autumn sun. We also welcomed soft, furry and cuddly teddy to join in the school fun! This quarter we have had many first-time school experiences for our little Tiggers and Pooh Bears. We built our burgers with Chef Kerry, yummy! To add even more fun to all that took place this quarter, our Tiggers and Piglets took part in their very first school play, ‘The Enchanted Ozland’! We are so proud of all the children for putting on brave faces and singing their little hearts out! We ended our exciting quarter by hosting a cake sale and what fun it always is! They always love the opportunity to sell their yummy goodies to the rest of the Pre-Primary and of course, enjoy the yummy goodies themselves! We wish all our children and their families a happy and safe holiday. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back after the welldeserved break! GRADE 00 Lauren Medcalf and Tammy Shuttleworth The children this quarter have been busy exploring, learning, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. A highlight has been our ‘The Enchanted Ozland’ Concert where Roo's and Pooh Bear's House with the rest of the Christopher Robin Pre Primary learners in Gr 000 - Gr R, captivated all with their spectacular play, showcasing songs from the timeless classic, ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and other songs. Their enthusiasm and efforts shone brightly as they sang their hearts out. It was a magical experience that highlighted their stage presence and confidence. In celebration of International Children's Day, our young learners enjoyed a delightful Teddy Bears picnic. With their favourite teddy bears in tow, the children gathered for a day filled with fun activities, delicious hot chocolate, and yummy S'mores. It was a heartwarming sight to see the children sharing stories, laughing, and making sweet memories with their cuddly companions. This quarter our curriculum took the children on an exciting journey through Space and Transport. They learned about planets, stars, rockets, and various modes of transport. The hands-on activities and interactive lessons sparked their curiosity and imagination, making learning both fun and engaging. To coincide with our Occupations theme, we had an amazing DressUp Day where the children came dressed as what they wanted to be when they grew up. From doctors and firefighters to astronauts and chefs, it was inspiring to see their aspirations and dreams come to life through their costumes. This event not only encouraged them to think about their future careers but also allowed them to express their individuality and creativity. We are incredibly proud of all learners for their hard work, enthusiasm, and vibrant spirit. Thank you, parents, for your continued support and for being an integral part of our Grade 00 group. We look forward to many more exciting adventures and learning experiences in the coming months.
