Quarter 4 Newsletter 2021
2 Congratulations to our Interact Peace Club and Katlego Mashigo for winning the first prize in the film and poetry section of the Rotary International Peace Project respectively. A Piece of Peace by Katlego Mashigo Ce la vie And the connotation attached to the Tale of life and how peace found a way to be the protagonist of this tale. If peace is benevolent honesty Let me shred the surface of all that is impure. Let me begin. Let me speak my peace. In a world of chaos, where do you stand? Do you ascend on the outskirts of planes? You can’t replicate someone’s peace To forge fulfilment. You need to retrieve it within yourself... Trust in the process of all that is being taught On the concept of peace. However... Where do I feel most at peace? I envision an oasis. Flowers that bloom. Around a white box Melting off it like ice-cream. The white vessel is a piece of Purity. A laid on a bouquet of words. My poetry book lies open filled with tales of Light And Darkness But I never allow immorality to shatter my state of being. It does not strip my grandeur from a form that has complete free will of defying every instruction. I have found a way to have control within my emotions that peace continues And does not fall into pieces. My emotions run like a faucet but I feel at home Like there’s no other place I could ever go. This is where I feel at peace. Now Speak your Piece of Peace. We wish our newly elected Interact Committee all the best for their term in office. SECONDARY FACULTY GRADES 7 - 12 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . From the Principal’s Office Sylvia Steyn “Past and Present I know well; each is a friend and sometimes an enemy to me. But it is the quiet, beckoning Future, an absolute stranger, with whom I have fallen madly in love.” - Richelle E. Goodrich After two years of dealing with uncertainty, trepidation and stop- start, we are ready to embrace 2022 as a fresh page. As we have stated numerous times throughout the year, we are grateful for the many privileges we enjoyed: we could have all our learners at school every day, people who got sick recovered, we were able to host a number of successful events during the safe times, our sportsmen and woman could play a few matches and we can confidently celebrate a successful academic year. Well done and thank you to all our learners, staff and parents for maintaining a positive attitude and showing resilience throughout the year. Congratulations to our learners on your final academic results and to our dancers and musicians on their excellent Trinity of London results. We are very proud of the level of involvement in culture at the College; the quality of training is evident in the results and the feedback we receive from international adjudicators. This past quarter also saw our sports teams get a taste of competitive sport again and our Robotics teams did us proud in the regional as well as international competitions. Something very special about our school is how we witness the big hearts of our learners when they continue to donate their time and resources to those less fortunate, even during the examination period. Thank you to many of you for answering our call everytime we needed assistance, from making sandwiches to donating stationery and shoes. We are most proud of our Interact Club who participated in the International Peace Project and won first prize in the film category. Katlego Mashigo also won the first prize in the Poetry category. Our Parklands family consists of talented, hard working and caring individuals - we salute you. May you all enjoy a refreshing break and a joyous Festive Season. Stay safe! See you in 2022. At the final assembly, our educators traditionally entertain the learners and this year was no exception… SERVICE
