Quarter 2 Newsletter 2021

9 GRADE 000 Lauren Medcalf Tigger’s House had a wonderful Autumn quarter! The quarter has been filled with learning on how to care for our pets, what animals we find on a farm, the animals of the wild, what wonderful creatures we find under the sea and of course a firm favourite- dinosaurs! We started the quarter with a visit from the Petting Zoo. The boys and girls were super excited to pet the animals and lots of giggles were heard and smiling faces seen. The bunnies were definitely most liked by the Tiggers. Bicycles, push motorbikes and scooters in all shapes and sizes came to school during our bike week. It allowed for wonderful incidental learning about road safety and how to be safe on our bikes. It was such a joy seeing the Tigger’s whizzing around in the driveway. For World Book Day we had the infectious personality of Madam Delilah aka Daniella Djan who came to school to read and act out her very own written book “The Grumpy Gnu”. What a treat it was to hear the author come and read her book to us! On 1 June we celebrated International Children’s Day with a teddy bears picnic. The little ones all enjoyed spending the day with their special bears who joined them for a picnic in the lovely late autumn sun. This quarter had many first time school experiences for our little Tiggers! On International World Hamburger Day we enjoyed yummy hamburgers for lunch, on the Chicken Dance Day we fluttered our wings, wiggled our legs and learned the chicken dance! On Super Hero Day many little ones dress up as Superman, Unicorns and Batmans, all were welcomed on this special day. Another special day we celebrated was World Bee Day. We made bee masks, tasted honey and learnt how important bees are to us and the world. On rainy days we spent time in our lovely Fantasy room, dressing up in different fantasy outfits, transforming to be future doctors and healing the little babies or dressing up as fairy princesses, going to the grocery store to ‘shop’ for groceries! We wish all our children and their families a very happy and safe holiday. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back after the well deserved break! The gardens and open spaces is used for learning, playing, discovering, sharing, fantasizing and creating. There is never a dull moment and the little ones always keep us entertained with their delightful, innocent comments and antics. We wish all our Dad’s a wonderful Father’s Day on Sunday 17 June. We hope you all know how special you are and the essential role you play in your little one’s life and development of character. “My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me”- Jim Valvano I would like to thank the Christopher Robin Pre- Primary staff for their hard work this quarter and in particular their passion in caring for and ensuring the well-being of each little one. On behalf of the Christopher Robin Pre-Primary team, we would like to thank you for a wonderful Autumn quarter and wish you a relaxing holiday. Should you be travelling, please buckle up and drive safely! We look forward to welcoming the little ones back to school on Wednesday, 21 July! CRACKERJACKS Chanay de Klerk and Ingrid Lubbe The Caterpillars and Butterflies had a wonderful second quarter, filled with various activities and special days. They settled beautifully, and as always were ready to start a new quarter! During the second quarter a variety of themes were covered, such as Pets, Farm animals, Wild Animals, Autumn, Birds and Sea Creatures. During our theme of Pets, the Caterpillars had a look at the pets they have at home. The Butterflies enjoyed categorising the various types of animals. It is a firm favourite of the Caterpillars and Butterflies to mimic the sounds of the different farm and wild animals! The Caterpillars and Butterflies had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Petting Zoo, where they were allowed to pet different animals, such as rabbits, sheep, goats, guinea pigs and more! The little ones had such fun zooming away on their bikes during bike week. They delighted in racing with their peers around the garden. World Book day was a hit as usual, lots of books were read and the Caterpillars and Butterflies participated by dressing up as their favourite book character. For Super Hero Day the teachers and little ones enthusiastically dressed up as their favourite superhero! The weather on Reach for a Dream’s Slipper Day was crisp and cold, perfect for rolling out of bed and coming to school in their pyjamas and slippers. A few more exciting days were celebrated during the second quarter, such as Chicken Dance Day where the Caterpillars and Butterflies learnt a new dance. On World Bee Day, we learnt all about bees and which colours they are. Paper aeroplane day was spent in our garden, flying our paper aeroplanes with delight. Chef Kerry and Rita treated the Caterpillars and Butterflies to some delicious hamburgers on International Hamburger Day, yummy! We also celebrated International Children's Day with a delicious picnic lunch, joined by our teddy bears. We hope that the Caterpillars and Butterflies will have a lovely break, and we are looking forward to starting an exciting third quarter.
