Quarter 2 Newsletter 2021

A SPORTING ADVENTURE event at the Olympics. As the metaphorical athlete, we were as prepared as we could be and ready to get a strong start off the blocks. Only for our race to be interrupted by a false start. As it happened it was only our netball girls that got to taste a competitive fixture. All the other sports were closed down before we were able to take the field. Keeping our learners motivated and engaged with our sporting programme was our main objective this quarter, especially after experiencing another setback. The sport sessions continued to be well attended and our coaching team did a great job in keeping the learners on their toes. We hope that next quarter we shall continue to build on these foundations, ensuring that our learners remain active and healthy. - Coach Watson PRE-PRIMARY FACULTY GRADES 0000 - R . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . From the Principal’s Office Riette Pieterse The Autumn quarter was filled with much fun and many interactive opportunities to further extend the learning experiences of our children. The Petting Zoo visited and our little ones had a wonderful time petting, feeding and cuddling the little bunnies, chickens, guinea pigs, goats and lambs. World Book Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on Friday 23 April and the esteemed writer, Daniella Djan captivated our little audience’s attention with her enthralling new story, ‘The Grumpy Gnu’ through interactive participation. This was a very special time in the Pre- Primary and we all enjoyed listening to some wonderful stories. The children were encouraged to dress up as their favourite character from a book and of course, bring a book to school for the teacher to read, and to donate a well-loved book to Merciful Blessings. The school was lively and humming with the zooming and scooting of bikes during International Bike Day on Monday, 19 April. The learners were thrilled to show off their bikes of various sizes and colours and to test their racing skills. We believe it is important to teach our young learners the value of giving and caring for others in our community. We recently celebrated International Children’s Day and invited our teddy bears and soft toys to school to join us for a picnic. The teachers and children discussed this special day and the following children’s rights: The Declaration of Children’s Rights All children have the right to a name, enough to eat and a decent place to live. All children should be looked after when they are sick and have a right to grow up with love, affection and security. Handicapped children have a right to special treatment and education. All children have a right to education and should be protected from neglect, cruelty and exploitation. All children should not be made to work before a certain age and should be protected from discrimination. All children should never have to fear arrest and detention and should be brought up to understand that their energy and talents should be devoted to the service of others. Christopher Robin Pre-Primary also participated in the “Reach for a Dream Slipper Day” and had a great deal of fun while supporting this wonderful cause. We are indeed privileged to have a school like Christopher Robin Pre-Primary. There is a hive of activity within our walls and in every room.
