Rayan Pillay mindful living ___________________ During the lockdown period, Mindful Living held a Google Meet where members caught up with one another, discussed future ideas for the club and announced the future chairperson! It was incredible to see everyone’s faces again and it was heartwarming to see everyone safe and healthy during this frightening time. On 11 July, Mindful Living, along with Interact and Green Solu- tions, held an animal food and blankets drive for Fallen Angels. It was an opportunity to help our community and our members had a great time seeing one another again. It was well supported and the members were motivated to brainstorm some new cre- ative ideas in which our community can be served! green solutions ___________________ Every week during lockdown Julia, Danhe and I, made videos that were posted in the blog about positive environmental effects that lockdown had on the world. These also included quotes in the learner announcements soucrced by members of the club, to keep the College thinking green. For example, on Earth Day we shared a message and a video via learner an- nouncements and the weekly blog about ‘Earth Day’ and why it’s important for all of us. Green Solutions has a WhatsApp group where members of the club canshare stories, photos or news regarding our en- vironment and pollution. Please join us in our fight to save our environment. Julia Fiander and Danhe Landsberg Chairpersons peer suppor t ___________________ Peer supporters are a group of FET learners who provide a lis- tening ear and support to their fellow learners. Due to the strict nature of the lockdown, it was exceptionally difficult to maintain face to face contact.Thankfully, the Peer Supporters’ services have now been made available online and learners can email peersup- port@parklands.co.za if they would like to reach out to any of the Peer Supporters. The Peer Supporters have been involved in planning a new pro- ject which aims to raise awareness and reduce the stigma often associated with mental health matters. The trainee Peer Support- ers are now almost halfway done with their training course. Dur- ing the course learners are taught basic counselling and commu- nication skills which will equip them to offer general support to peers in need.
