Storm Elliott (U17) and Micaella Korsten (U17) were selected to play against Eden (old SWD), Northern Cape and Boland. COACHES:Atlantic Tennis Academy MANAGERS: Frederic Bredell, Prinevin Vardan, Jolandi Gibson,Anri Hayward & Keith John TRAIL RUNNING 2019 saw the introduction of Trail Running as an official Parklands College sport.Although some of our learners have been taking part in Trail Running; mainly in the Spur Trail Series, this was the first year whereby we organised our own trail runs. This also offers great pre-season training for Cross Country in the winter season. Parklands College has a Strava group where learners can track their runs, compete for posi- tions on the leaderboard and add photos of their run. Our runners were challenged with stairs and sprint training on Tuesday afternoons, helping them to prepare for the trails on a Thursday afternoon at MeerendalWine Estate. Meerendal offers a 7km trail through their vineyards and around “The Koppie” which offers beautiful views of Table Mountain and the Table Bay area. There are also slightly shorter routes for those not quite ready for the 7km run. Our runners have grown in confidence and we look forward to exploring other trails later this year.Well done to our captain, Jade Bremner (grade 11) for her enthusiasm and Christine Greig (grade 10) for encouraging her team mates to take beautiful photographs of their journey.A special men- tion must go to Deon Bochnig, who once again won his Spur Trail Series in the short course Minimee category. COACHES: Elmarie Randewijk & Donovan Duffield MANAGERS: Elmarie Randewijk & Marc Viljoen lost one match. The 2nd team often played against the opposition 1st teams and, although the results did not always go their way, valuable lessons were learnt. The 1st team continued their winning ways with a victory against Milnerton for the first time. Personal highlight of the year goes to Darian Niadoo for his inclusion into theWP U/17 team as well as being invited by CSA to attend a regional camp. Gary Kirsten’s involvement at the College was further enhanced with him sponsor- ing the Gary Kirsten T20 Challenge which was a huge success. Our 1st team travelled to the Oakhill T20 tournament during the September holidays and took on Bishops, SACS,Wynberg and Grey PE.
