Quarter 1 Newsletter 2022
4 We had a very successful Summer Sport Season with all our teams getting the opportunity to play matches for the first time in a very long time. Swimmers, water polo players, runners, cricketers, softball players and tennis players thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to demonstrate their skills. Our tennis/ netball courts are being renovated and they look great. Past Head Girl, Laura Wolvaardt, continues to make us proud as one of the stars with the bat at the Cricket World Cup. After 5 innings she had scored 350 runs - an average of 70. She is admired the world over for having achieved so much by the tender age of 23. SPORT NEWS Renovated tennis courts Fun Sports Assembly Valentine's Day Assembly PGT performance Our musicians, dancers, public speakers, debaters have all been busy this quarter preparing, competing and performing. We are lucky to enjoy brilliant performances at our weekly assemblies. Goodbye to Mr Swanepoel and thank you for your contribution to our Music Department. CULTURE NEWS Under the auspices of Interact we continue to raise funds and awareness for various charities. One of the fun activities of the quarter was when everyone got involved making sandwiches for the learners at Vaatjie Primary School during break one day. Jemma Stearns reports: We made 677 sandwiches in total. Our winners were the Grade 10s with 215, followed by Grade11s with 183, then the Grade 9s with 150, and finally Grade 7s with 129. We made more than enough sandwiches for Vaatjie and donated the rest to Blouberg Rotaract for their weekly sandwich drive. SERVICE
