Quarter 1 Newsletter 2020

singing songs about their busy bodies and dancing and moving to music during our little movement rings. As always, our Bakerman Fridays have been a hit and our first quarter bakers have been very proud to show of their treats in their special baker outfits. We have enjoyed the hot summer days by exploring with waterplay in our little garden. Our little Crickets have even enjoyed a bit of water fun of their own. Whizzing around the garden on scooters and in our little car has been a firm favourite during outside time. Inside the classroom, our budding artists have enjoyed painting many a colourful picture and often we prefer to paint with our fingers and hands rather than a paintbrush. We celebrated Valentine’s day by dressing up in red, pink and white and hugs were handed out by friends all around our little unit. A firm favourite of the Butterfies class has become the Monday morning visits by our very own, Madame Delilah, who comes to tell us the most wonderful, interactive stories. The Caterpillars love listening to various animal sounds and excitedly mimic the sounds. In Cricket’s the little ones delight in dancing and playing in their ball pond. They are all becoming more mobile as some are learning to walk while others are starting to crawl. Both the Caterpillars and Butterflies have found our Healthy eating theme very interesting, they ended off by making their own delicious fruit salads, choosing their favourite fruits. As we say goodbye to the summer quarter, we await the learning experiences and adventures the Autumn quarter will bring, with much anticipation. Ingrid Lubbe, Chanay De Klerk, Thea van Zyl GRADE 000 Our new year started off with much enthusiasm and excitement from both children and parents. We were incredibly proud of our little ones as they settled in so beautifully. With love, patience and very few tears we all soon got into the swing of things and settled into the busy school day filled with playing, learning and exploring. One of our shows this quarter was 'The Five Senses: Hands-On PRE-PRIMARY FACULTY GRADES 0000 - R . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . From the Principal’s Office Riette Pieterse Christopher Robin Pre-Primary was bursting with energy as we welcomed our new and old children back to school. Our building and beautiful playgrounds were once again alive with the sound of laughter, singing and little voices. Our little people have been very busy playing, exploring, learning and making new friends. The children’s days are filled with lots of creative activities such as painting, pasting and discovery. Music and singing form part of our day and sand and sensory play provide tactile experiences. Educational games include puzzles, shape sorters, matching games and pegboards. Outdoor play is enjoyed throughout the day, to develop good gross motor coordination and healthy bodies. Our staff have indeed been amazing and I would like to acknowledge their effort and hard work in ensuring that each parent, as well as little one, is happy and feels secure in their new environment! We constantly seek to provide an environment which is irresistible to children, through its elements of adventure and play. The Incredible Dog show entertained the little ones at the start of the quarter, and what a treat it was! The squeals of laughter, the joyous delight and the refrain of ‘Who let the dogs out?’ could be heard for the rest of the first week. 11 March marked a special day in our calendar and our school was abuzz with excitement as CRPP celebrated it's 49th birthday. On this day in 1980 Lorraine Roth opened the doors of Christopher Robin Pre-Primary School to the residents of Cape Town’s Atlantic Seaboard. The College continues to grow as a result of the outstanding education and foundation our learners receive and we look forward to providing many more years of exceptional, innovative education, beginning in the early years. Our outreach projects were greatly supported by our learners and parent body and we thank them for their efforts. We started the year collecting craft materials for the Lily Ginsberg School for Special Needs. During the month of February we collected food and non-perishable food items for Little Brinks. To celebrate Valentine’s Day, the children thoroughly enjoyed dressing in the red, pink and white, and we shared the love as all donations were given to Red Cross Children’s Hospital. We wish all our children and parents a wonderful holiday break and hope you enjoy some relaxing time with your family. We look forward to welcoming all the learners back to school in April for the Autumn Quarter. CRACKERJACKS The Crackerjacks have enjoyed a fun-filled start to the 2020 school year! Our learners, old and new, have settled in well and we are very proud indeed of our Crickets, Caterpillars and Butterflies! The Caterpillars and Butterflies have loved learning all about their bodies and senses this quarter. They have especially delighted in
