134 | Edition No. 23 | 2020 GRADE 7 WITZENBERG The Grade 7 camp was a blur of activity and laughter. The Grade 7s went to CampWitzenberg close to the mountains of Ceres. It was beautiful and scenic but rather hot! On the very first day, we all went zip lining, which gave many the op - portunity to conquer their fears. “The zip lining was one of the scariest things I have ever done, but totally worth it,” Nicole Apsey. The learn - ers zip lined in Ceres and swam in rock pools with baboons .... ok not with the baboons, but they were very close by! “I am sure the baboons were after my hamburger,” Nicholas Dawson. The Grade 7s did obstacle courses and swam and participated in numerous games that tested their team skills and individual endurance. We had to join groups and work together. Our group was called “Go Spanspek”. It was really fun and gave us all a chance to get to know We believe in the value of Outdoor Education and this year, more than ever before, the Grade Camps played an important role in what our learners will remember about 2020. each other better.” Nicholas Farquhar. “One of the best things about camp was after lights out, when the girls, in the dormitories, chatted for what felt like hours. Grade Heads: Andrea Lightley and JoshuaWyngaard GRADE 8 DISAKLOOF The Grade 8 Camp at Disakloof was a really fun camp. We arrived on Wednesday morning to a heavy downpour, but our camp leaders were awesome, and got all the learn - ers involved in some fun indoor games. After a hearty lunch, the sun was out and the learners were treated to an adven- ture hike through the Harold Porter Nature Reserve that hosts some of the most beautiful coastal Fynbos.
