128 It was a momentous occasion when our First Team Rugby and First Team Netball players departed on a tour to Ireland from 18 – 30 March 2019. After months of preparation, we couldn’t wait to get this pre-season tour started. Ireland definitely was the perfect destination to kick off future tours. Both teams played four competitive matches and we are most proud of our Netball team for win- ning all their matches. The highlight for the girls was when they played the Cork Regional Team and came out victoriously in a 45-44 nail biter. The rugby boys had to play in some harsh Irish conditions with soft underfoot and unfortunate- ly the results did not go their way. The experience gained was invaluable and stood the team in good stead once the domestic season started. The tour party experi- enced a good mix between sport and culture by visit- ing most of the famous Irish landmarks. They travelled to Dublin, Lim- erick and Cork, and played matches in every city. All thirty three learners on tour were excellent ambassadors for the College and the Parklands flag flew high in Ireland. Sport touR SECONDARY FACULTY IRELAND TOUR Rugby and Netball
