Magazine 2018
We have had fun while at the same time enjoying opportunities to give generously, enrich the community and in a small way, make a difference. To celebrate Valentine’s Day, the children dressed in red, pink and white and donations were given to the Red Cross Children’s Hospital. We also collected Easter eggs for the Elundini Educare Centre and Huis Yzterplaat Retirement Home. In celebration of International Children’s Day in June, our teddy bears and soft toys were invited to school to join us for a delicious picnic. The admission fee for our teddy bears was donated to Sisonke Sibambisene Early Childhood Development Centre. Christopher Robin Pre-Primary also participated in the “Reach for a Dream Slipper Day” and had a great deal of fun while supporting this wonderful cause. Lucky Lucy and Fallen Angels care for severely neglected and abused animals and do amazing work in our community. To support them, tinned and packaged food, blankets and toys were collected by our Christopher Robin Pre-Primary families. In October, in support of the SPCA, our learners dressed up as animals and purchased a ribbon for R10. We had a fun day and many interesting animals visited Christopher Robin Pre-Primary. Throughout the year, specified items were collected each month for the Santa Shoe Box Project and we were delighted to do our bit to bring some Christmas joy to a few children. We would like to express our gratitude to our parent body for supporting our outreach projects throughout the year. We believe it is important to teach our young learners the value of giving and caring for others in our community and greatly appreciate your support. “No one has ever become poor by giving.” - Anne Frank This year has seen many of the children and families of the Preparatory giving generously to those in need in our community. We would like to say thank you to all of our parents and children for their support and enthusiasm towards all the charity drives that have taken place. We commenced the year with a collection of old school shoes and stationery to help the children that are not as fortunate as ourselves. We were completely astounded by the great number of cereal bars that were received during our second drive of the year. The marshmallow egg collection was distributed amongst various charities, and many people were treated to a delicious marshmallow egg or two. We also honoured the elderly in our community with a sweet treat and toiletries collection. Pre-Primary Outreach Preparatory Outreach 18. 21st Edition
