RUGBY U19A AND B PREDATORS The First XV travelled to George for the Southern Cape Sports Tournament this year and used the three matches they played as a good pre-season training. This certainly showed as, in the first half of the season, the 1st team went unbeaten, playing tough opposition like Fairmont, Fairbairn College and Fish Hoek High, just to name a few. Playing an exciting brand of rugby and lead well by the Captain and head boy, Simeon September, the Predators capped off a memorable season by beating Somerset College on the last move of the match at Derby Day, making it 9 wins from 10 games. A few of them also went on to play in the Cup finals of the Fairbairn College 7s Rugby Tournament, narrowly losing to the hosts in a pulsating match. The U19B team also had a memorable season, beating rivals Melkbos High and Bosmansdam in convincing fashion and drawing to Fairmont High in a tough encounter during the first half of the season. U16 RUGBY VIPERS Our U16 players started the season off with good wins at the West Coast Festival and a very good pre-season tour to George. They faced some tough opposition, such as the Paul Roos B and C teams and put up some good scores. The Vipers played with their hearts on their sleeves and this group of boys displayed a lot of pride in their games. This augurs well for the future. U14 SEA HAWKS Going into the season with a lot of promise, this team did not disappoint. Starting the season off with a bang, they beat Milnerton High in a pulsating match, 32-28. They also went on to record a big win against Fairmont High and Fairbairn College, showcasing their capabilities in the first half of the season. Time and again this team showed their big match temperament, even when one or two of the results didn’t go their way, but when they lost the game, they never lost the lesson. The Sea Hawks came out victorious in the final, tough Derby Day match against Somerset College to end the season on a high. U13 RUGBY A number of our Grade 7 learners joined the Preparatory learners to play in the U13 league. The pre-season rugby programme focussed on perfecting the skills, speed and strength, techniques and vision of our rugby players. They successfully competed in weekly league rugby matches as well as occasional Saturday Festivals. Coaching sessions took place twice a week and focused mainly on skills and techniques with further development in many aspects of the game, like positional play and set plays, which allow our learners the opportunity to learn and improve as they showcase an exciting brand of running rugby. 146. 21st Edition
