2. 1. CRICKET The Cricket season was cut short by Western Province Youth Cricket, due to the persistent drought and water restrictions. The 1st Team was lucky to get 3 matches against the Past Learners, Fish Hoek High and Elkanah House, winning all of them. We booked all the other teams to play at the Montague Gardens indoor arena for some indoor cricket matches and some much-needed practices for all our cricketers. We brought forward our Inter-House T10 cricket tournament to give more players some match time. This tournament was won by Yale House. In lieu of regular matches, we hosted a mini festival of cricket on a Saturday in the Summer Quarter. It was a day of family participation and fun, with the highlight being the fathers taking on their sons. The fathers won, of course. The second half of the season gave our boys more opportunity on the fields and culminated in a highly successful tour to Knysna to compete in the annual Oakhill T20 tournament. Cricket has suffered a very disrupted year, but we still succeeded in terms of getting our boys to play this most traditional sport. CROSS COUNTRY Cross Country continues to excel at the College with our learners running weekly at the College, as well as participate in Saturday parkruns and the Spur Night trail series. With inspirational guidance and phenomenal dedication this group of learners is becoming more of a family rather than just being a team. This year they embarked on a Running Camp where a large number of runners took part in the West Coast Half Marathon, 10km and 5km. The highlight for the Cross Country season was the hosting of the 5th leg of the Western Province Cross Country league. Over 500 learners ran in their age groups on our impressive 2km route and the event was a huge success. Our runners, Deon Bochnig U14, Georgia Bowles U16, Jade Bremner U16, Mia Zgerski U16 and, Amber Taylor U16 have consistently finished in the top 20 in their respective age groups. We are proud of Mia Zgerski and Jade Bremner who obtained their WP Cross Country colours and Georgia Bowles and Christine Greig for making the Northern Zone Team. FITFLEX Fitflex continues to grow at the College and this year we introduced a third day of practice because of the overwhelming participation. Fitflex is a goal oriented fitness club that focuses on core strength, agility, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness. Fitflex includes warm-ups, calisthenics, yoga and pilates inspired movements, traditional exercises such as squats and push-ups, walking/ jogging/ running and various stretches. 3. 142. 21st Edition
