Magazine 2017
hello In between our Robotics teams participated in the World Robotics Regional Olympiad and our matrics got ready for prelims. The start of Spring in September brought new energy to everyone on the Parklands journey. The Grade 11s returned from Leadership Camp and started their campaigns for learner leadership positions. The Grade 10s impressed independent judges with creativite movie making at the annual Unicorn Awards evening. The school voted for their House Captains and Prefects for 2018. The matrics then returned to what many of them remember as their old hunting ground to write their Preliminary Examinations in the Wood Drive hall on the Senior Preparatory Campus. October was once again a proud month at the College. We showcased learner achievements at our various awards ceremonies and celebrated our school’s achievements of 2017. We announced our new learner leaders and we said an official goodbye to our matrics at a moving Valedictory Assembly. The month ended with the wonderful Grade 10 Dance. Our journey was finally slowing down in November when all the learners started giving account of the academic work they had done throughout the year. Our newly appointed learner leaders spent some time with new learners joining us next year and then we settled into the examination routine. December is a time for rejuvenating energy in preparation for the next part of the Parklands College journey commencing in January. Our super train is getting its overall evaluation and service and will be ready to go when the Parklands family is back on board. “Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” - Alice in Wonderland, 2017 production 4O Days Matric Dress Up World Robotic Olympiad (WRO) Winners Unicorn Awards Evening Sport, Service, Technology and Culture Awards New Learner Leaders for 2018 Simeon September and Tara Pohl, our Head Prefects for 2018.
