Quarter 2 Newsletter 2020

Humanity on a global level, has been devastated by the effects of Covid-19 and for many of us, plans and preparations for the future have been put on hold. Everyone is focused on hopefully keeping safe and not contracting the virus. The health and hygiene regime within the College has been at the forefront of our daily lives and activities within the school. Teachers have been trained how to safe distance and from our littlest learners through to Grade 12, everyone has had to adapt to the rigours of handwashing, sanitising and wearing face masks. We would like to thank our parents, staff and learners for their commitment to our health and safety processes. Despite the challenges, our learners are flourishing and classes may seem different, yet their essence remains the same and our teachers have gone way and beyond to ensure that the learners who are unable to return to class, have benefitted from our online programme. It’s astounding to walk through the College and watch the teachers in face-to face contact with the learners and yet, when a learner attends another activity, the teacher immediately goes online. Where would we be without our dedicated teachers who have taken on the responsibility of double-teaching - accolades to them! We would also like to thank our support staff who sanitise and clean our environment daily! A special note of appreciation to the many parents who have written letters of thanks to Principals and teachers for the work being done. It is our hope that this pandemic will pass, sooner rather than later, and the lives of our children will return to normal, where they can play with their friends and run on the sports fields, enjoying their youth. We look forward to our first Virtual Majors and Minors Concert on 13 August, featuring our Preparatory and Secondary Musicians who have been hard at work preparing their items to ensure an enjoyable programme.
