Quarter 3 Newsletter September 2019b
The third quarter began with the staging of our musical production Cats. Around 100 learners, alumni and staff members worked tirelessly over a six month period to realise this spectacular event which featured the talents of the College's singers, dancers, musicians and actors. The audience were entranced and an extra show was added due to public demand. Memories of this unforgettable show will linger forever and the College is very proud of everyone who participated. It is gratifying to know that so many parents overwhelmingly appreciate the value of high quality independent education. There is no finer gift a parent can bestow upon their child than an outstanding education. I know that for many, sacrifices must be made in order to sustain the type of education that we provide, which is dynamic and in keeping with the latest approaches to teaching and learning. However, these are priceless sacrifices and in time, it is the child who will reap the benefits of such an exceptional opportunity. Thank you for your continued support. As we head towards the end of the year, we are able to reflect with pride on the achievements and successes of our young learners in all aspects of College life. Parents were recently treated to a showcase of incredible musical talents at the Special Person’s Day and Music Concerts held by the College. Thank you for the warm words and letters of appreciation for all that we are able to provide for each learner, ensuring they are able to excel in their specific talents and skills. Derby Day was a resounding success where a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship was evident across all the disciplines. Thank you to our sports department for the organisation and planning of this special day, and to our learners for their enthusiastic participation. As always we appreciate the eager participation and support of our parent body. Our Blood Runs Blue! Our matrics celebrated the end of their school career with a formal ball at the prestigious Mount Nelson Hotel. The matrics arrived in glamour and style at the Wood Drive Hall and proceeded along the red carpet to the applause of the awaiting crowd. Throughout the year, parents have been afforded a glimpse into the learning opportunities available to each learner, through Open Days and 'Grade Experiences'. They have been captivated and exposed to Robotics, Green Screening, Augmented Reality, Art and Design - all of which comprise a day in the life of their children here at the College. Thank you to the learners for their enthusiasm and to the parents for their support of all we do. We would like to acknowledge and congratulate the many learners who have achieved on local and international fronts in Robotics, Mathematics, Science, Public Speaking, Dance and Sport. Looking ahead to the last Quarter of 2019, there is still much to look forward to before the final curtain falls on this year. Our time will be filled with Matric Finals and examinations, prize-giving events, Honours, Valedictory, as well as the Pre- Primary Concert and Graduation. Finally, we would like to wish our 19th Matric class, all the best for their final examinations commencing on 17 October 2019. We look forward to another year of a 100% pass rate. The Parklands College Board of Directors extend their best wishes to all of you. Thank you to our educators for their professionalism, commitment and dedication to each and every learner at the College. We look forward to welcoming our learners back on 2 October.
