134 | Edition No. 24 | 2021 SANESA HORSE RIDING During the First Quarter four of our riders competed in the SANESA Quali- fiers held at Europa. All of our riders ahcieved fantastic results from Show Jumping, Dressage to Working Hunter. Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, shows were put on a hold and we have not been able to compete as often as we wanted to. Hopefully shows will pick up again in future and our riders will continue to fly the Park - lands banner high! SOCIAL ENTERTAINERS The Social Entertainers enjoyed the op- portunity to dress up in traditional outfits and to perform for the school on Africa Day. We love to remind everyone of the rich diversity of our country and to do so through the medium of entertainment. WOODEN CRAFTS WORLD CULTURES SOCIETY SOUND ENGINEERING Sound Engineering continues to serve the College through assemblies, music concerts, house events, MVS and gen- eral event support. This year has been particularly eventful as COVID has challenged us to make every event available online through live streaming. This has served as an additional challenge among all the other technology (such as microphones, lights, presentations, projectors) that the sound team must manage. This year has been very suc- cessful and has taught the sound engineering team many valuable skills. TECHNOVATION Our Girls in Tech have been hard at work on their projects which address prevalent issues in our community. The girls have made incredible progress and we look forward to seeing their great developments in the near future. It is phenomenal seeing so many young women passionate about using technology to uplift the lives of others! We are very proud of our team, Team CapeAble, for advancing to the Semifinals for the 2021 Technova - tion season and wish them the best of luck for their future endeavours. UMPIRING, REFEREEING & SPORT ANALYSIS The Umpiring, Refereeing and Sport Analysis Club plays a key role in our sports department. This year has been devastating due to COVID-19 with sport matches being cancelled; a lot of our members have missed out on amazing oppor- tunities. However, our sport prefects created the ‘Pro League’ where our members played a vital role. Different courses have been offered, e.g. a cricket umpiring course offered by the WPCUA. We look forward to an exciting future ahead with our members helping out on the field. WORLD CULTURES SOCIETY At the start of the year we learnt about 6 different countries that we would have never thought to learn about. The passion from the members of the club is very inspiring. We all share the same interest, which is wanting to travel the world and learn about each country and cultures. We went all across the world; some of the countries we learnt about were Canada, Monaco and Columbia. We are always looking for new members who share the same passion as us. WOODEN CRAFTS The Wooden Craft Club is an exciting new club in which we learn about the different types of tools, methods and techniques used to make various wooden crafts. At the start of the year we explored different tools and materials and started designing our own small wooden projects. Cars, dove-tail boxes and honey dippers are just a few of the amazing items made. Looking ahead we plan to delve deeper into the techniques used in woodwork- ing and plan to work together on one big pro- ject for the end of the year. This is a great club for getting creative and learning new skills! RESOURCE CENTRE MONITORS
