107 2021 | Edition No. 24 | ACADEMICS Jana Grobbelaar and Darushen Pillay Throughout the past year, Academics at the Col- lege have thrived. From the outstanding results of the Class of 2020 to hosting fun academic quizzes at the College, 2021 has been a successful year. This year the Academic prefects launched an Aca- demics Instagram page which aims to connect with and relay information to students easily and imagi- natively. In addition to this, the Peer Tutoring team has been expanded and caters for online as well as face-to- face tutoring for all learners at the college. Peer Tutor training involved a wonderful workshop by Dr Randewijk who spoke about learning styles and communication. Language week programmes as well as collaborations with the House Prefects for Inter-House Mathematics and Science quizzes are among other successes that have occurred in 2021. From the Debating Society commencing their Rotary League debates, to the Public Speaking Society members receiving feedback on their entries into the SALA Na- tional Public Speaking Competition to First Aid Club completing their FA level one course and the Social Entertainers shooting a lovely video for the cel- ebration of Africa Day - it has been a blast! Our Service Clubs have continued their great work in keeping our beaches clean, visiting outreach cen- tres and raising awareness campaigns with regards to important days and donations to worthy causes. Clubs and Societies play a vital role in College life and provide learners with opportunities to enrich their education in wonderful ways.
