Magazine 2020
181 2020 | Edition No. 23 | Parklands College is in the exceptional position to offer both the theoretical and part of the practical learning components on campus, providing student- teachers with realistic and on-demand exposure to the real world of teaching. This enables us to offer student-centered learning, integrating theory and prac- tice whilst offering active learning opportunities. Furthermore, we are able to offer the effective and dynamic use of learning technologies in higher education. This in itself will prepare the student to work with and experience technologies that they can apply in their future careers. The learning programmes cover an exciting array of subjects ranging from teach- ing learners with challenges, acquiring anAfrican conversational language to how to teach subjects in a school curriculum such as Language, Mathematics and Life Skills. Students will learn to apply various teaching methodologies such as project-based and differentiated learning which will assist them to cater to the needs of all the learners in their classes. The programmes are designed to support critical and creative thinking skills, promoting innovation in the future teacher’s classroom. We look forward to developing these qualifications and including these offerings in the future.
