This quote seems particularly apt after our Valedictory, where our Grade One learners and Class of 2029 bid a memorable farewell to the Matrics, with a medley of song. At Parklands College we dare to foster in our learners an imagination of the impossible and an intrinsic belief in their ability to transform it into multiple possibilities. As the Grade Twelve learners ready themselves to pursue the world beyond school, we are confidently assured of their ability to embrace new challenges and opportunities. 2018 has been cause for celebration as we reflect on the outstanding achievements of our learners nationally and internationally across all spheres of learning. The differentiated and varied academic offering, dedicated venues and specialist teachers promote opportunities for a multi-dimensional approach to teaching and learning. The exceptional new Innovation Centre in the Preparatory Faculty allows for differentiated, enquiry based teaching and learning experiences, with access to multimedia and collaborative work and design spaces. This prepares our curious young learners for the career oriented facilities they will experience upon entry into the Secondary Faculty. Our innovative approach to education has ensured that we remain at the forefront of global trends and we are excited about the development of our new Learning Innovation Centre which is currently under construction at the Secondary Faculty and will open in January 2020. The new facility will provide 4 000 square metres of additional learning spaces and will include an Educational Holodeck, Robotics Laboratory, a MakerSpace, collaborative learning venues and breakaway meeting spaces. Designed with purpose and infused with technology, these will allow for enhanced teacher collaboration as well as cross-curricular integration. I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to our Board for their commitment to our vision and for their ongoing support of Parklands College. To our Matrics: we are proud of you and wish you all good fortune for the future. Thomas Dreier wrote, “The best preparation for a better life next year, is a full, complete, harmonious, joyous life this year. Our beliefs in a rich future life are of little importance unless we coin them into a rich present life. Today should always be our most wonderful day.” Time is that fleeting moment when the future passes into the past. Grasp it, embrace it and make it your own. We extend our gratitude to our principals and educators for their tireless dedication in ensuring that each learner is nurtured and encouraged to attain their full potential.
