3. 2. SOCCER The season started with all soccer matches being suspended until June, but that didn’t stop the soccer boys from training hard and remaining passionate about the beautiful game. U19A BOYS The season was reduced to 5-a-side soccer owing to the condition of most schools’ soccer fields. The boys took it upon themselves to make the most of the season, with some tremendous results like beating Table View High 6-5, Bloubergrant High 9-6 and Elkanah House 4-2. The U19 boys ended their season off with two good wins: on Derby Day beating Reddam Atlantic 2-0 and in a very exciting match against a touring Gauteng school, Beaulieu College, they won 4-2. Well done to this team on a great season. U16A BOYS The U16 Boys had a challenging season, but not for lack of trying. One of the highlights in their 5-a-side league matches was playing in the Mary Burton tournament held at Hinkley Road in Athlone. The boys gained valuable experience which paid dividends in the second half of the season. U14 BOYS Both U14 boys' teams experienced some memorable moments in their 5-a-side matches during the Autumn Quarter, with the A team beating Elkanah House by a huge margin and the B team beating Fairmont High B 6-4. U19 GIRLS Both U19 girls teams enjoyed their 5-a-side league that was based at Fairmont High this year. The girls trained hard and faced against some very tough opposition. A highlight of the first half of the season was when both U19 teams beat Milnerton High in their respective matches. The U19 girls' ended their season with an exciting 11-a-side match against Gauteng opposition from Beaulieu College, narrowly losing 3-2 in a very entertaining match. U15 GIRLS We entered a very inexperienced U15 girls soccer team into the 5-a-side league, but that didn’t stop the girls from giving it their best shot and enjoying the game. The highlight of the girls’ Autumn Quarter season was the 2-2 draw against Elkanah House. SANESA We would like to congratulate our SANESA rider, Storme Pike in Grade 8, on being selected for the regional team. She has shown great talent and a fantastic partnership between her and her horse, Utah, by being placed either 1st or 2nd in most of her events entered, ranging from Prix Caprilli, Dressage, Show Jumping, Equitation to Working Hunter over the four qualifiers. With the results concluded in June, Parklands was placed first in the category leading up to regionals. 148. 21st Edition
