Netball Parklands College focuses on an integrated netball programme that caters for all. We aim to encourage and develop mass participation, with learners participating at school level, as well as in interschool activities and netball festivals. Our girls showed tremendous determination in both the Panorama Primary and Fanie Theron Netball Festivals, where they competed very well against strong opposition. The Bridge House Netball Festival was an added opportunity to enjoy the game, foster new friendships and healthy camaraderie. Junior Soccer It is very encouraging to see how much the learners are benefiting from the soccer programme, both from the skill set learned and from an enjoyment level. In the U/9 age group, we registered three teams in the local soccer league, exposing more players to match opportunities, which in turn aided their overall development and game plans. All of our teams performed admirably, with our B and C teams often playing against stronger opposition. Soccer Our experienced team of soccer coaches have delivered structured and productive weekly practice sessions which offer maximum participation for a large amount of soccer players. Parklands College is the only school in the area who has entered A and B teams into the local league at U/10, U/11 and U/12 level. Our B teams have persevered against tough opposition, and their subsequent growth and development have been evident. Hockey Our hockey fixtures produced multiple opportunities for our girls to excel, and they showed commitment and teamwork in the various hockey festivals. Their hard work and persistent approach were rewarded with majority wins. Our teams remain determined to strive for unbeaten seasons within their league, and to play for each other as well as the crest on their chests. Chess The pre-season training sessions in the Summer and Spring Quarters have certainly contributed immensely towards the development and growth of our players. Our chess team performed extremely well in the local Chess League and qualified for the District Play-offs without losing a match. Their superb skills were also evident at the CBC Chess Tournament where our lads finished strongly.
