Sports Tours St Stithian’s Rugby and Netball Tour Parklands College Preparatory School enjoyed a very successful rugby and netball tour to Johannesburg during the April school holidays. Our teams participated in the St Stithian’s Sports Festival, one of the biggest sporting events in the country, hosting 20 rugby and 10 netball teams from well known and traditional sporting schools in South Africa. Parklands College was invited to this prestigious event for the first time in 2017 and attended the festival with an U/13 A rugby side as well as U/11 and U/12 netball teams. The event not only created the opportunity for our teams to compete at a top level against new opposition, but also to connect and establish new friendships with players from participating schools. Our netball and rugby teams demonstrated good sportsmanship and teamwork, achieving outstanding results against highly respected sporting schools. The U/11 netball team performed extremely well and won all their matches against the teams of St Peter’s Preparatory, Heronbridge Preparatory, Penryn Preparatory, St Stithian’s Preparatory, St Teresa’s, St Mary’s and the St Stithian’s Festival Team. The U/12 netball girls demonstrated skill and tactical play against these top netball schools, achieving a draw and winning the last match of the Festival. The experience was great preparation for the netball season, which proved to be a successful one. The U/13A rugby boys impressed the large crowd of spectators at the Festival with their attractive style of rugby, winning all of their matches against the opposing teams from Howick Preparatory, Woodridge Preparatory and Heronbridge Preparatory. 1. 2. 3. 1.
