Magazine 2017

A very important topic that has also been discussed a great deal this year is water. The children have learnt what a scarce resource water is, and have learnt all about their role in helping save our water. We are very proud of the manner in which the children remind each other, as well as their mommies and daddies, to save water. Another highlight in Grade 00 was learning about the life cycle of bees and dressing up as bees. There is a uniqueness to the Grade R year, as we focus on preparing our little people for formal schooling. This involves encouraging independence, confidence, creating concrete learning experiences and discovery. The year has been packed with activities and we thought we would share a few favourites with you: Graduation was once again such a wonderful celebration of our Grade R children’s journey and their progress in Christopher Robin Pre-Primary. They have had many opportunities to play, discover, engage and develop their confidence. Looking ahead, our children are well equipped to take on the next part of their educational lives. They have a strong foundation and we are confident that they are ready for Grade 1 next year. Amongst the extra murals, shows, outings, dress up days, “Special Person’s Day” and learning and playing, we have had many highlights. We celebrated our 37th birthday in March and especially enjoyed the delicious cake. We are proud of our little ones and their confident participation in the concerts in May and at the end of the year. It has been our pleasure and privilege to watch the children’s personalities unfold each day. Thank you to our parent body for entrusting the most important treasure in your lives to us, for building important relationships and creating a team with one shared goal, providing your children with what they need to develop and grow. As the sayings goes, “it takes a big heart to help shape little hands.” The Christopher Robin Pre-Primary team have very big hearts and a special love for the children. “Doing Six Bricks” -Raashmi Pillay “Doing artwork” -Leonardo Halls “Box construction” -Arabella Bryce “Playing with the mouse on the computer” -Iyanda Mkwananzi “Playing Soccer” - Nathan Goriola “Playing outside with Jemma” -Ayrton Brown “Building Lego with Ayrton” -Jemma McLea “Doing very big puzzles” -Tatiana Papavasilopoulos “Getting to learn the letters on the TV and playing on the computer" -Anna Herbert “I like the toys at the tables” -Angelina Nock “I like doing hard work” -Maddison Smit “I love the dessert” -Noah Hamilton-Brister “Playing on my teacher’s computer” -Katelyn Le Feuvre “I love robotics and recorder” -Carmen Greig 15 www.parklands.co.za
