Parklands College Secondary

Parklands College Secondary Faculty

What greater gift can a parent give to a child than the benefit of a quality education?  Here, within a community of caring, professional educators, each learner’s needs are nurtured.  Encouragement to give of their best is promoted in all aspects of learning in order to ensure success and personal fulfilment.  Our examination process and continuous assessment, ensures a sound foundation for further studies.

We offer a balanced timetable which ensures that every learner has the opportunity to participate in the sport and cultural programmes on offer.  Therefore, learners are required to participate in campus life by committing to a cultural or sporting code, thereby enriching their education. The world requires citizens who are comfortable within a rapidly changing environment and to this end, the acquisition of technology skills is a top priority.”

Academic Curriculum

Parklands College is a registered examination centre for a variety of examining bodies.  A wide spectrum of subjects is offered to candidates.  A formal registration is required for examinations and parents are advised well in advance of these dates together with the costs.

Examinations are written twice per annum and are vital performance indicators.  The College promotes a mature, regular and consistent approach to studies, therefore applying methods for continuous assessment whereby all tests, projects, assignments, presentations, essays, orals and assessed group work are evaluated.

Post Matric Academic Support

We are proud of our past learners who have graduated from universities from all over South Africa, as well as in the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.  We assist learners with the selection of courses as well as applications to tertiary institutions in South Africa and abroad.  Learners wishing to improve on their Grade 12 results are also accommodated through extensive personal tutoring.

The educators of the Secondary Faculty provide these learners with tests, exemplar papers and the memoranda to assist them in their preparation for rewriting examinations. The learners are also granted the opportunity to write tests, the mid-year and preliminary examinations, in order to ensure that they are sufficiently prepared.  The College also takes great care to ascertain that the learners are well informed regarding the subject requirements, the final examination timetable and their new examination numbers. Revision sessions are offered the week before the examination to ensure that the learners are confident and well prepared
