Parklands College Preparatory
Parklands College Preparatory (Grade 1 – 6)
‘Transforming the classroom from a one way system of information dissemination to a village approach of information gathering and sharing is critical to empowering pupils. It requires pupils to generate ideas, take ownership of their learning, respect the opinions of others, learn to act responsibly and believe that they can make a difference in their own lives and the lives of others.’
- ‘Transforming Power’ by Seth Kreisberg
Parklands College Preparatory Faculty
In the Preparatory Faculty, we pride ourselves on furnishing every aspect of the development of the learners in our care. We believe in nurturing the growth of our staff and learners thereby making education a team effort to which all are committed. The atmosphere that exists within our school is one in which learning is interactive and dynamic. There is the establishment of a critical, creative consciousness whereby children learn to rely on their own independent validation strategies to make informed choices and value judgements.
At Parklands College, we believe that effective teaching involves passion, knowledge, skill, discipline, motivation and care. Our educators foster high expectations of the learners and rigorously continue to promote the culture of excellence that pervades the very essence of our school. A healthy balance exists between the different spheres in our school, whereby the emphasis is placed on achievement on an individual and a collective level. This is achieved by the growth of self-esteem and the realisation of each individual’s potential. Our educational vision is one in which the holistic education of the individual goes beyond academic excellence. We believe that innovative approaches and pioneering methods along with the acquisition of certain fundemental skills are necessary for the success of a school thereby ensuring that Parklands College continues to remain a forerunner in educational innovation.
