Christopher Robin Pre-Primary

Christopher Robin Pre-Primary

“As our little learners embark on their journey through education, Christopher Robin Pre-Primary provides an environment that enables the learner to develop lasting impressions that will enhance their positive attitude to life-long learning. The classrooms are alive with the excited chatter of the children as they develop their skills and expand their minds. Their days are filled with creativity, music, discussion and play while exploring the how’s and why’s of space, road safety, seasons, stranger danger and much, much more! Our weekly themes are highlighted with shows, outings and guest speakers. In addition to our fun-filled days, each little person is enriched with drama, information technology, violin, recorder, international languages, dance and sport.

On entry into formal education, our free-thinking, confident and independent little people are assured success.”

- Lee-Ann Steynberg, Principal

Learners are enrolled for pre-primary on condition that they are socially and emotionally ready to adapt happily into a learning environment and are not younger than 3 years of age.

Our pre-primary was established in 1980 and is a progressive and dynamic place of learning. As learning should always be fun, the learners are, in a relaxed and happy way, preprimary1encouraged to experiment with a wide variety of educational and creative equipment, which includes indoor and outdoor experiences, as well as the discovery of computers, books and the freedom of fantasy play. Our teachers are specialists in the field of early education and guide the children, bearing in mind that each child is unique and develops at his own pace, through the carefully planned programme which provides experiences that enrich and enhance each child’s social, emotional, physical, cognitive and creative development, thereby providing a sound foundation. Xhosa, Recorder and Information Technology are introduced during the pre-primary years as part of the daily activities. The child’s development is continuously evaluated and each child who is joining Grade 1 is screened to ensure school readiness. We aim to develop and educate the child holistically, therefore, the school offers many activities to support and enrich this development, so that each learner may become an individual, able to easily integrate into the formal system. Should a learning challenge be identified, a comprehensive referral is made to the relevant therapist. Early intervention and therapy is initiated in an attempt to overcome challenges, before the learner enters the College. Progress Reports are provided on a regular basis and parents are encouraged to join the teacher for a personal interview.
