Weekly Memo 26-30 July

July 23, 2010

Outreach Society
This quarter we have chosen to support two very important charities in the Table View and Du Noon area and will be collecting various items for the “Home of Hope” and “Little Lambs”.

Little Lambs is a non-profit organisation that distributes essential items and baby products to vulnerable children and babies.  Many of the little ones they support have either HIV or TB, or have been abused, abandoned or orphaned.  The Home of Hope is well known and creates a loving and caring environment for abused, abandoned, neglected and HIV babies, as well as youth.

Please contribute; by sending any of the following items to school, it would be much appreciated by both the ladies who run Little Lambs and The Home of Hope, as well as the children, babies and families they assist!

DISCIPLINE FOR PEACE
Be empowered and inspired with positive skills.
When it comes to discipline, what skills will be effective and leave us with peace of mind? How do we create healthy boundaries without using fear-based methods? When children are resistant or go out of control, what positive skills can we use to get their co-operation? Discipline for Peace is a series of 4 workshops teaching positive discipline skills relevant to children of all ages.  The workshops are run by Karen Quail (BA, BSocSc Hons, HDE). Karen has a background as a school counsellor and teacher. She is also a parent. She has been running the DFP workshops regularly since 2004.
